2012 was an amazing year for the Off Road Business Association, with recorded victories on two fronts. We celebrated the addition of an exciting new Board of Directors. Our founder was recognized with his nomination to the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, and we made sweeping changes in our internal management practices. Below are a few of the many highlights that marked an upward swing at ORBA. We hope you will help us expand our membership in 2013 so we can springboard off our recent wins.


2012 ORBA accomplishments

  • ORBA welcomes first female board member Lindsay Hubley

Family Events, Lindsey Hubley has been a welcome addition to the Board as the first woman to serve as a Board ORBA Board Member.


  • Launch of new website

After ten years, 2012 ushered in a new look for the ORBA Logo, and website. Today we are able to keep our members better informed with a new format, which has been optimized for search engines.

  • Expanded monthly newsletter

Our Monthly email based newsletter has continued to expand over 2012 with a growing subscription base. Members are encouraged to forward the newsletter on to its customers, and associations, in addition ORBA hopes that members will rebroadcast the information on its own social media networks.

  • Paperless electronic invoicing

We have switched to electronic paperless billing in 2012 in an effort to reduce waste, and reduce our carbon footprint. Its time we took back the idea that only extreme environmentalists are the only people who care about the environment.

  • Centralizing office space to be more cost efficient

In late 2012 ORBA moved to a smaller office unit in the same building. As units became available in our complex we found that we could save on overhead by moving to a smaller unit. We are in suite 108 at the same address across the street from Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy’s office.

  • Updating phone / computer to more efficient equipment

Our aging phone and computer system could only last so long, so in 2012 we were finally able to update the systems, further demonstrating the upward momentum ORBA has been experiencing after many years of uncertainty.

  • EcoLogic partners win Truckhaven Lawsuit

In an unprecedented win, ORBA and its partners in Ecologic Partners won a history-making lawsuit in California, marking the first time an OHV group has successfully won a case against a trail closure.

  • Bartlett amendment moves through House and Senate then signed into law by President

ORBA Leadership in the California Motorized Recreation Council JV committee has yielded a congressional victory with the passing of HR4310. Section 2856 specifically addresses the need for the United States Marine Corps to address issues brought to light by the CMRC JV committee. Please see the complete report on the subject.

  • Provided Legislative Advocate in Sacramento to save $10 million in OHV Grant Funds

In California ORBA Lobbyists from Aaron Reed and Associates, have been engaged in the fight to protect the OHMVR fund. In 2013 ORBA will continue to apply pressure on this important topic.

  • First of the “National OHV Lobby / Education Day”

ORBA lead the charge to create the first of its kind Virtual OHV Lobby days in which OHV users where encouraged to make an appointment with their local Legislators and get to know them on a personal level. The first event was small but a tremendous success with reports of a number of personal relationships developing between OHV users and Legislators.

  • ORBA Founder Roy Denner inducted into the Off Road Hall of Fame

ORBA Founder Roy Denner was inducted to the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in October 2012 marking his place with the icons of the sport.

  • Family Events / Off Road EXPO make ORBA 2012-13 Charity of choice

In 2012 the Off Road Expo, the largest dedicated OHV trade show in the world awarded ORBA the distinguishing title of Charity of Choice for 2012, and 2013.

  • SEMA and ORBA partner for the first ORBA LOUNGE at the SEMA show in Las Vegas

In a partnership with SEMA, ORBA members took advantage of a Private Lounge area at the 2012 SEMA show, we will continue this tradition and focus on expansion of member services in 2013.
