ORBA proactively protects recreation access and opportunities by ensuring that America's families are not arbitrarily denied the right to responsibly recreate. ORBA provides leadership in addressing land use issues by advancing policies that conserve the environment while at the same time providing off-road recreation opportunities.

White House Rural Council Group Letter to President Obama |

As representatives of national motorized recreation organizations we write to comment on the establishment of the White House Rural Council (Council) and to draw your attention to the positive economic impact off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation has on rural economies. Specifically, we are encouraged that when you established the Council you recognized the important role the federal government has to play in expanding “…outdoor recreational activities on public lands,” and that the Council’s mission includes identifying and facilitating opportunities associated with outdoor recreation. We look forward to working with the Council to explore opportunities to bolster rural economies by expanding OHV recreation areas, and request a meeting with Council Chairman, Secretary Vilsack or his designees to discuss how we can best work together to ensure that OHV access continues to be an economic lifeline for many distressed rural economies.

As representatives of national motorized recreation organizations we write to express concerns with specific provisions of the recently released “A Call to Action: Preparing for a Second Century of Stewardship and Engagement,” and to request a meeting with you or your designee to discuss the Call to Action, our concerns, and to explore how the motorized community can provide input on the future of National Parks.
