Last month ORBA held it’s annual visit with the California Director of the Bureau of Land Management, Jim Kenna. The meeting was centered on the Marine Corps base expansion at Twenty-nine Palms, the implementation of the Resource Group and its role in managing the “Shared Use Area”. ORBA offered new ideas on how we could help with the “Special Recreation Permit”/ Cost Recovery. Another important part of discussion was about how could we help provide approved monitoring for some events therefore reducing events and permit costs.
Obviously these areas will take time to develop and implement, but that door is open and ORBA will continue to pursue reasonable solution to assist the federal agencies that manage public lands.
